Project Role

Starbucks UI Design

A personal UI project I conducted to improve on my skills and to create based on a already existing brand design.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Starbucks, one of the leading coffee shop brands in the world, prides themselves on their youthful and rich image. However, I did not feel like their app reflected this statement, and therefore wanted to create something more fitting of the brand.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION

I created a reimagined version of some of the comapny apps pages, to showcase a version I believe to be more fitting of the brand identity.

01 - DESIGN PROCESS

For this project I chose to implement a more agile methodology. The project itself did not require too much research and pre-planning, so I started this project by looking at the company's pre-existing app. From there I focused my attention on their social medias to see if the company had a coherent brand image. To my surprise, their social medias were more consistent in brand identity and much more refined than their app. From there, I decided to create a design more in tune with their identity and I was able to get straight on wireframing and designing after conducting an initial scetch stage.

02 - Wireframeing

To quickly layout the original idea from my mind, I created a HiFi digital wireframe of each page that I wanted to design, and then transfered these scetches into more HiFi digital prototypes. Iterations were made, and after some time the final design was born from the wireframes seen below.

03 - FINISHED PRODUCT

The goal with this project was to challenge myself to create something simple yet elegant, with an easy to use feel. I creating a HiFi prototype in Figma, that I iterated and changed as I went on. The brand in and off itself carries a very youthful and elegant feel to them, and so I wanted to incorporate that in their app design. I chose a bold yet simple typeface for the headers to help bring a sense of hierarchy, as well as to help seperate the different elements.

For the different design elements, I chose to implement the brands iconic green, strengthening their brand and creating a sense of unity throughout their socials. Adding extra graphics of the drinks ingredients on their respective product pages helps bring in some dynamic movement and creates a more appeticing look, making the consumer more inclined to buy said drinks.
